As a first-tier city, Shenzhen is the easiest city in China for international students to obtain household registration. This is because there are no social security requirements, nor do students need to undergo a physical examination.

Requirements for International Students to Obtain Household Registration in Shenzhen:

Time: It generally takes 1-2 months for international students to obtain household registration.

Fees: There is no fee for international students to apply for household registration. However, if a student opts for an agency to handle the registration, then the fee ranges from 1,800-2,000 RMB. Each agency has different fee standards.

Students must meet one of the following conditions in order to obtain household registration in Shenzhen:

1. Study overseas and obtain a bachelor's degree or higher (including those who have obtained permanent residency in their country or re-entry permits issued by their study country).

2. Research scholars or postdoctoral fellows who have worked or studied at a higher education institution or research organization for at least one year and have achieved a certain level of achievement.

Note: The most recent policies to obtain household registration for international students are consistent with domestic academic standards. Those with a bachelor's degree must be under 35 years old, master's degree holders must be under 40 years old, and Ph.D. holders must be under 45 years old to be eligible for household registration in Shenzhen.

Types of Household Registration for International Students in Shenzhen:

1. Residence Family: Suitable for individuals with property in Shenzhen, or for those whose relatives or friends have property in Shenzhen.

2. Company Collective Household: Suitable for individuals whose company has a collective household. An inquiry into the company's human resources department can provide more information.

3. Talent Home Managed by the Local Police Station: Suitable for most working professionals. It is stable, convenient, and free of charge.

Can International Students Obtain Household Registration in Shenzhen Without Employment?

International students who reside in Shenzhen but do not have a job can obtain household registration by being sponsored by the local police station with a lease proof from the landlord or rental contract.

Documentation Required for International Students to Obtain Household Registration in Shenzhen:

1. Certificate of Overseas Academic Degree, or Certificate of Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan Academic Degree.

2. Scholars visiting overseas or studying in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan are required to submit the highest domestic academic credentials and degree certificates.

3. Identity card, marriage certificate (married persons only), household registration book (pages of the applicant and household head), birth certificate (for children accompanying the applicant), and graduation certificate.

Special Notes:

1. If the couple gets married within China, they should present their marriage certificate. If they get married overseas, they should present a marriage certificate that has been authenticated by the Chinese embassy. Divorced persons should provide a divorce certificate, divorce agreement, divorce judgment, or divorce mediation.

2. If the applicant belongs to a collective household, they must provide the household registration home page and personal information page of the collective household book or obtain a household registration certificate from the public security department in the applicant's hometown.
